Duntulm Castle
the ruins of Duntulm Castle stand right at the top of the Trotternish peninsula on Skye. This was a stronghold of the Clan MacDonald and was abandoned by the clan around 1730.
Dunvegan Castle
the ancestral home of the Clan MacLeod on the Isle of Skye, still in use today. The castle is open to visitors all year round - opening times are shown on the website.
Eilean Donan Castle
the famous castle on Loch Duich which used to feature in the "balloon" sequences on BBC television. Open to visitors.
Fort George
massive and impressive fort built in the 1760's and still in use as a barracks today. The ramparts form an excellent vantage point from which to look for dolphins which regularly visit the Moray Firth.
